The future is now. It seems traditional means of acquiring information are disappearing, thus opening up a new age of opinions and sometimes facts. One such avenue is the podcast. Many different ring war celebrities are starting their own podcast including "Stone Cold" Steve Austin, Chris Jericho, Jim Ross, and even John Orlando. Yes you read that right. The voice of OCW, John Orlando, has his own Podcast where he talks about wrestling, comic books, hockey, and other interesting things in his life. He also has some guests on from time to time to discuss projects they have coming up, or just to shoot the breeze. Check out www.pvdcast.com for a full listing of podcasts John has done, including the latest one where he talks about the happenings at the last OCW event in Zanesville.
Hello ladies and gentlemen and welcome to the "Risky Business" edition of the OCW Top 10. This event took place on Saturday September 13th at the Civic League Community Center in Zanesville, OH and on that night we saw new champions crowned, old rivalries renewed, and some uncharacteristic behavior from several of the OCW stars as tensions reached their boiling points. Remember that this list is not based on wrestling ability but on the impact that these competitors made on OCW at our last live event. With that being said, lets kick off another exciting edition of the OCW Top 10!
Honorable Mention: "Bombastic" Bruce Grey, "One Man Militia" Matthew Justice, Justin Diaz, and Brian Bowers- These men had impressive outings at "Risky Business" though they did not come out on the winning end of their respective contests.
10. "Rockshow" Ernie Ballz
The final match in the best of 3 series between Ballz and Jimmy Shane was made even more important when the OCW board of directors added the stipulation that the winner of the series would be named the #1 contender to the Ohio Heritage Championship. Ballz had won the first victory in May. Shane had scored an underhanded win in July. The 3rd and final match would decide who would win the series and get the OHC title shot in October. Both men fought with everything they had but in the end Jimmy Shane showed that he truly had ''No Shame" when he once again resorted to utilizing a low blow on Ballz (pun intended) to win the match and the series. Ernie Ballz has reached a cross roads in his career. What will the OCW veteran do? Only time will tell.
9. Louie Perez
Perez has shown constant signs of improvement since joining OCW earlier this year. In Zanesville he earned a hard fought victory off the debuting Brian Bowers.
8. "Pinnacle" Levi Connors
Connors was greeted with a hero's welcome by his hometown fans. He would go on score the pinfall victory over Justin Diaz.
7. "Darkstar" Matt Taylor
At "Risky Business" Taylor had an extremely competitive and action packed match against a man who is well known in Ohio wrestling but new to OCW, Matthew Justice. These two came at each other with lots of intensity and really got the crowd into a frenzy. Just when it looked like Justice would win his OCW debut Taylor connected with the "boomstick" for the victory.
With a successful OHC title defense against "Bombastic" Bruce Grey, Taka is really picking up steam. We will see if he can continue on his winning ways when he faces the new #1 contender to the Ohio Heritage Championship, Jimmy Shane, in October.
5. Robby Starr
Starr had his hands full with his biggest challenger to date when he met Sherman Tank in Zanesville. Starr threw everything he had at the challenger but the big man would not be stopped. Robby saw his chance when OCW head official, Keith "Papa Smurf" Smith, was incapacitated during the contest. Starr's associate, Jimmy Shane, came to ringside and the duo wedged a steal chair between the turnbuckles. However, when Starr attempted to ram Tank's head into the chair the big man was able to turn the tables on the champ and slammed "The Super Starr's" head into the cold steel. Though this was not exactly what Robby had in mind, his plan was a success. Tank would be disqualified for using the chair which allowed Starr to retain the OCW championship. Robby has been dodging bullets ever since capturing the title in April. How much longer can the champ's luck hold out?
4. Heatseekers / Saturday Night Slam Masters
There is absolutely no love lost between the teams of Jeremy Madrox & Kaden Assad and Juice Jennings & Joey Vengeance. These duos have met in the ring on a handful of occasions and the action that results is always breathtaking. Madrox & Assad were scheduled to defend the OCW tag team titles (which they won from the Slam Masters in January) against the team of Jeff Cannon & Jock Samson. Jennings & Vengeance were scheduled to face the team of Johnny Attitude & Papa Dingo in a #1 contenders tag match. Unfortunately, Papa Dingo was unable to attend the event in Zanesville. This forced the OCW Board of Directors to switch up the card.
Johnny Attitude was given the night off and promised a guaranteed title shot next month when Dingo retuned in Coshocton while the Slam Masters would be added to the tag title match that evening. The Heatseekers protested the decision and claimed that they were not prepared for a 3 way tag team contest. To the dismay of the Seekers, the ruling was made official and the tag title match began. The team of Cannon & Samson would score the upset victory and leave with the belts. The 2 remaining teams met in the middle of the ring and exchanged words. What was said is unknown but what is known is that tempers flared and an all out brawl ensued! Assad, Madrox, Vengeance, and Jennings showed no restrained as the emotion hit a boiling point. OCW officials and members of the locker room ran out to separate the 2 teams as the action in the ring grew more chaotic. It is quite apparent that these men have unfinished business.
The following conversation occurred via Twitter in the days following the melee:
Will the OCW B.o.D. grant these teams their wish and arrange a final showdown between The Heatseekers and Slam Masters?
3. "No Shame" Jimmy Shane
The best of 3 series between Jimmy Shane and Ernie Ballz was tied 1-1 going into "Risky Business." Both men were looking for their break out moment that would define them as a top player in OCW. Shane showed a mean streak that we have not previously seen as he tore into Ernie with vicious offense including Shane's "Rat Trap" submission that we have not seen from him in some time. Ballz showed signs of rallying but "The Man without Shame" utilized a low blow behind the referee's back to set up a high impact maneuver that put "The Rockshow" down for the 3 count. Now Shane looks to continue his winning ways as he heads into our October event for the biggest match of his career when he faces Takahashi for the Ohio Heritage Championship. Jimmy Shane has yet to hold a championship in OCW. Could this be his time to shine? If so, then both singles titles in OCW will be possessed by the dastardly duo of Jimmy Shane and Robby Starr. Can The Winners reign supreme in October?
2. Sherman Tank
Robby Starr was backed into a corner against Sherman Tank so he gave the signal for Jimmy Shane to come to ringside to sway the match back to the champion's favor. Tank was able to give Robby Starr a taste of his own medicine when he sent the champ flying into a steel chair that Shane had wedged between the turnbuckles. The referee, Keith Smith, had been inadvertently injured during the match and was down in the corner but watched on as Tank covered an unconscious Starr. Another official ran to the ring and made the 3 count. The crowd erupted as there appeared to be a new OCW champion. However, the celebration was cut short when Keith Smith reversed the decision, disqualified Tank for using the chair, and awarded the victory to Robby Starr who wasted no time in grabbing his title and running to the locker room. An irate Sherman Tank let his emotions get the best of him and he grabbed Smith. OCW announcer, John Orlando, tried to calm the big man down but it wasn't working. Finally, "Big Guns" Jeff Cannon hit the ring to reason with his friend. Tank came back to his senses and left the ring. The OCW B.o.D. has since issued the following statement:
"We understand that professional athletes can get caught up in the moment, especially after a controversial call by the official. However, any member of the OCW locker room putting his hands on an OCW official will not be tolerated! Sherman Tank will be fined and reprimanded for his actions."
The roller coaster of emotions from the match and the events that followed earn Sherman Tank the runner up spot on the OCW Top 10.
1. Redneck Wrecking Crew
The Duo of "Big Guns" Jeff Cannon & "Genuine" Jock Samson shocked the world by capturing the OCW tag team titles in only their second outing as a team. That fact is made even more amazing when you consider that their opponents in the match are two of the best teams in OCW history. The Heatseekers and the Saturday Night Slam Masters are both former OCW tag team champions and have held numerous titles in other companies. Jeff & Jock held their own against the tough competition and were even able to fight off an onslaught from the other teams who actually seemed to put their hatred for each other on hold to unite against the upstart tag team. Cannon was able to capitalize on a distracted Madrox to score the pinfall as Samson held off the others from breaking up the pin. Once the bell rang to signify the ending of the match Samson ran into the ring and joined Cannon as the two celebrated one of the biggest upsets in OCW history. How long will the Redneck Wrecking Crew stand atop the tag team scene? They will make their first title defense on October 18th when OCW returns to Hopewell School in Coshocton, OH.
This concludes the "Risky Business" edition of the OCW Top 10. Don't miss the next OCW event, "Hopewell Havoc" on October 18th. More developments will be released soon. Until then, thanks for reading!
Tempers flared following the OCW Championship Match in Zanesville on Saturday night between champion Robby Starr and challenger Sherman Tank.
Throughout the match Robby Starr used shortcuts to finish the contest, but Tank was relentless and wouldn't stay down. Finally in a fit of desperation, Starr ordered "No Shame" Jimmy Shane to wedge a chair in the corner between the ropes to finish Tank off. Tank reversed the effort and sent Robby torpedoing through the chair. Filling in for the injured Senior Official Keith Smith, Jake Clemons slid in to make the 3 count, declaring Tank the New OCW Champion. Unfortunately for Tank, Keith Smith, who was injured earlier in the match saw Tank throw Robby through the chair and disqualified him. Thus awarding the match and the OCW Title to Robby Starr.
A frustrated Tank would not release the belt to Keith Smith no matter how much both officials pleaded with him that it was the right thing to do. Tank then did the unthinkable and struck Keith Smith and began to maul the unconscious official until the voice of OCW, John Orlando grabbed Tank trying to get him off Smith. Tank then turned his attention to Orlando and threatened him in the corner until "Big Guns" Jeff Cannon came out to calm Tank down. Tank and the OCW fans in attendance, who were chanting and banging on the barriers, just wanted justice.
Word has come down that Tank has been fined 6 months pay for the attacks on Smith and Orlando and must issue a public apology.

#1 Contender Tag Team Match
Saturday Night Slam Masters vs Papa Dingo & Johnny Attitude.
Jennings & Vengeance have been a top team in the Midwest wrestling scene for nearly 3 years. They are the longest reigning OCW Tag Champions in company history with a record setting 22 month reign! On September 13th they look to take the next step toward regaining the OCW tag titles that they lost to The Heat Seekers in January. In order to do that they must defeat the dangerous duo of Papa Dingo & Johnny Attitude. These men are undefeated in tag team action in OCW and look to make a statement by defeating their highly decorated opponents. Juice & Joey have the experience advantage but Dingo & Attitude have size on their side as well as their manager, Jason Dragon, in their corner. Who will emerge as the new #1 contenders and face the champions at our next live event in October?
Match #3 in their Best of 3 Series and Ohio Heritage Championship #1 Contender Match
"Rockshow" Ernie Ballz vs "No Shame" Jimmy Shane
On September 13th we will see the epic conclusion to a series of matches that began earlier this year. Ballz struck the first blow with a win in match #1 in May. Shane shot back with a devious victory in match #2 at "Summerfest Showdown 5" in July. We now look forward to the rubber match between these great competitors. Just in case the prestige of winning the series wasn't enough, OCW officials have announced that the series winner will be named the #1 Contender to the OHC and receive a title match in October.
OCW Tag Team Championship Match
The Heat Seekers vs "Big Guns" Jeff Cannon & "Genuine" Jock Samson.
At "Risky Business" we will see a championship rematch from our "Starrstruck" event in May when the unlikely team of Cannon & Samson face one of the most dominant teams in OCW history, Jeremy Madrox & Kaden Assad aka The Heat Seekers. The Seekers have looked unbeatable since reclaiming the OCW tag titles from the Slam Masters in January. Will this be just another title defense for The Butcher & The Bagdad Bopper or will we see an upset and brand new tag team champions?
Ohio Heritage Championship Match
Takahashi vs "Bombastic" Bruce Grey
Can you believe it has already been a year since Takahashi shocked all of OCW by winning the first ever Ascension Match last September? In that time Taka went on to have a classic pair of matches with Jeff Cannon for the OCW Championship and then followed that up with the biggest win of his career by ending the year long OHC reign of "Darkstar" Matt Taylor. Bruce Grey has had an eventful year as well. He was revealed to be the 3rd member of Heat Seekers Inc. when he was unmasked as Jack the Seeker #2 in January and then officially began his OCW in-ring career as "Bombastic Bruce" the following month. Grey has proven himself to be a very dangerous opponent. Bruce's friends, The Heat Seekers, could also come into play. Taka may need eyes in the back of his head if he wants to leave Zanesville with the OHC. Whoever comes out on top will face the winner of the 3 match series between Ernie Ballz and Jimmy Shane in October.
OCW Heavyweight Championship
Robby "Super" Starr vs Sherman Tank
Last April OCW fans watched in horror as Starr unseated Jeff Cannon to capture his 2nd OCW title. Starr has managed to retain his title by any means necessary but his luck could very well run out when he faces another former champion and his biggest test to date, Sherman Tank. These men know each other extremely well and have had numerous encounters in OCW and throughout the independent circuit. Which of these men will leave as the main man in OCW? One thing is for sure, wherever Robby Starr goes, Jimmy Shane is sure to follow. Tank will have to be on the lookout for interference from "The Shameless One" as Shane has helped Starr retain his title in the past. Can Starr weasel his way to another title defense or will he "Get Tank'd" in Zanesville?
OCW will storm back into the Zanesville Civic League Community Center on Saturday Night, September 13, 2014 for another exciting night of wrestling action.
In our Main Event you will see "The King of OCW" Robby Starr defend his OCW Championship against the returning Sherman Tank. The current OCW Tag Team Champions The Heat Seekers take on the new team of "Big Guns" Jeff Cannon and "Genuine" Jock Samson. Speaking of OCW Tag Team Titles, The Saturday Night Slam Masters (Joey Vengeance and Juice Jennings) will square off against Papa Dingo and Johnny Attitude in a #1 Contenders match. His recent winning streak will reward "Bombastic" Bruce Grey with an OCW Ohio Heritage Championship match as he goes 1 on 1 with current champion, Takahashi. in the Best of 3 Series, "The Rockshow" Ernie Ballz is not only looking to bring some shame to "No Shame" Jimmy Shane, but to become #1 Contender to the Ohio Heritage Championship.
All of this plus "Darkstar" Matt Taylor and local fan favorite Levi Connors! Tickets can be purchased online on this very web site or you can pick them up locally at Edie's Deli (Colony Square Mall) and at the Civic League Community Center.
